2025 International Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Award

The Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC), supported, in part, by Amgen Pharmaceuticals, is thrilled to announce the inaugural 2025 International Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition. This prestigious event celebrates excellence in cardiovascular research and honors the legacy of Dr. Jay Brown, a stalwart in cardiology whose contributions have significantly advanced the field.

The competition invites researchers and clinicians outside the United States to showcase their groundbreaking work in cardiovascular science. With a focus on innovation, rigor, and impact, the Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition aims to recognize and promote research that addresses critical issues in cardiovascular health, especially those affecting underrepresented populations.

Eligibility

Trainees in cardiovascular medicine including residents and fellows outside the United States are encouraged to submit their abstracts.

The Award

Four outstanding abstracts will be selected to present virtually in June 2025 (specific date and time TBD). Two winners will be selected from the finalists and sponsored by the ABC to attend and present their work at the ABC events during the 2025 American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA in November 2025.

Key Highlights:

  1. Eligibility: Trainees in cardiovascular medicine including residents and fellows outside the United States are encouraged to submit their abstracts.
  2. Evaluation: Abstracts will be reviewed by an expert panel for scientific merit, innovation, and potential impact on cardiovascular health.
  3. Awards: Two finalists will be selected and sponsored to attend and present their research at the ABC’s General Membership Meeting in the United States.

  3. Abstract Presentation: November 8, 2025, during the ABC General Membership Meeting
