The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking exceptional candidates to be considered for the position of Director of the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP) in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP).
NCCDPHP leads national efforts to promote health and well-being through prevention and control of chronic diseases. The center’s strategic priorities are strengthening epidemiology and surveillance, promoting environmental improvement to increase opportunities for health, strengthening health systems to effectively deliver preventive services, and promoting linkages between the community and clinical settings to better manage chronic conditions.
The Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention employs these and other strategies as the lead federal agency for heart disease and stroke prevention and management. The division supports state, local, tribal and territorial heart disease and stroke prevention programs that help millions of Americans prevent and control high blood pressure and reduce other risk factors for heart disease and stroke. These efforts aim to lower death rates from heart disease and stroke, which are the first and fifth leading causes of death in the United States. Please see the attachment for additional information about the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention.

• Working with external partners, including national organizations such as the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, National Association of Community Health Centers, and the American Medical Association.
• Providing leadership and direction for public health efforts and nationally funded programs that address heart disease and stroke.
