Coronavirus: A Message From ABC President Michelle A. Albert, MD, MPH
Coronavirus: A Message From ABC President Michelle A. Albert, MD, MPH
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
At this time in our global history, we are severely challenged by the ongoing COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic while concurrently inspired by how different communities are pulling together at individual, leadership, medical, scientific and public health levels to mitigate this pandemic.
At ABC, we want to remind you of the importance of social distancing and adherence to sanitary measures, especially frequent hand washing with soap for at least 20 seconds and use of hand-sanitizers with appropriate alcohol content as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Since coronavirus infection represents a global pandemic, by definition all populations are affected. However, history has taught us that differential impact often exists tightly linked to socio-demographic factors. Therefore, it is essential that we remain educated about ongoing events. Please find enclosed a brief from the Council on Black Health about “What Coronavirus Means for Black Communities.“
Stay tuned for more content in our Clinical Updates & Insights newsletter, on the ABC website
and other platforms to help inform you about emerging cardiovascular aspects of the
coronavirus pandemic.
ABC stands closely with you in support of your safety, well-being and health.
Blessings,
Michelle A. Albert, MD, MPH
