This month’s thematic issue of Circulation: Heart Failure has been dedicated to the findings of the Heart Failure Data Challenge — issued in 2021 by the American Heart Association and the Association of Black Cardiologists to encourage cross collaboration among researchers to deepen the understanding of the influence of social determinants of health on heart failure. The issue highlights the best science of the AHA & ABC’s collaborative efforts and the multiple lessons learned. It includes research and editorials from ABC members – Drs. Gregg Fonarow and Ileana L. Piña along with editorials from Drs. Clyde W. Yancy and Sabra C. Lewsey.
