As part of Obesity Care Week 2025, the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) proudly joined over 65 healthcare organizations in signing an open letter urging leading employers to provide comprehensive obesity care coverage. This effort, led by the Alliance for Women’s Health & Prevention’s (AWHP) EveryBODY Covered campaign, highlights obesity as a chronic disease that disproportionately impacts women—particularly women of color. The letter calls on employers to expand healthcare benefits, recognize obesity as a medical condition, and eliminate weight bias in workplace culture.
