Advocacy

The Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) is leading the effort to eliminate cardiovascular health disparities and advance equitable care for all. We believe that where a person lives, the color of their skin, or their socioeconomic status should never determine their cardiovascular outcomes. ABC brings together clinicians, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and community partners to drive meaningful change through advocacy, education, research, and public engagement. By championing policies that improve access to high-quality care and addressing the root causes of health inequities, ABC is helping create a future where Every Heart Counts.

Our Advocacy and Public Policy Agenda include:

Improve Black American’s heart health and ensure access to care, including healthy food options, particularly for Black women and their children and those living in rural and underserved communities and within cardiology and nutrition deserts.

Ensure access to critical cardiovascular breakthrough treatments, products, and technologies and advance health care availability, affordability, and accessibility.

Advance public health and population based initiatives—such as tobacco, menthol flavored products, and nicotine prevention efforts—and improve outcomes for individuals living with cardiovascular disease.
