This year’s World Heart Day, observed September 29, falls squarely within National Cholesterol Education Month — and ABC is marking both by partnering with the Medical Advisory Committee of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. for a virtual webinar on cholesterol awareness and heart disease prevention, held that evening at 8:30 PM ET. The collaboration carries personal resonance for ABC’s own Steve Owens, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President of Professional and Community Education — himself a Phi Beta Sigma member — and extends the reach of two ABC flagship initiatives, the Cardiology Deserts Campaign and Brother to Brother: Know Your Numbers, into a fraternal community space.
