ABC Advocacy
The Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) is dedicated to eliminating disparities related to cardiovascular disease for all people of color and adheres to the vision that all people regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender should benefit equally from a reduction in the frequency, duration, and impact of diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
The ABC endeavors to be a leading authority for policymakers on issues that impact the practice of and access to cardiovascular care in all populations, including by advocating for initiatives and programs focused on education, prevention, and treatment.
ABC is focused on building strong, effective relationships with varied stakeholders throughout the healthcare community to help advance its advocacy agenda. Collaboration is a pillar of success.

Amputation Reduction and Compassion (ARC) Act of 2025 (H.R. 307)

Preserving Tobacco Prevention and Control
A long-standing priority of the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC), evidence-based tobacco prevention and smoking cessation policies are essential to reducing preventable cardiovascular disease and addressing disproportionate harms in Black communities.
Ensuring Access to Breakthrough Cardiovascular Products and Emerging Technologies
Ensuring timely access to cardiovascular innovation, including digital health tools, remote monitoring, and emerging therapies, remains a focus area for the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) and requires addressing coverage and utilization barriers.

Through a coalition sign-on letter, ABC supported policy recommendations aimed at reducing health disparities, improving healthcare access, strengthening clinical research participation, and advancing patient-centered innovation.
Illinois PAD Screening Legislation
ABC applauded the passage of Illinois legislation requiring insurance coverage for peripheral artery disease screening, a significant step toward improving early detection and reducing preventable amputations.
Improving Cholesterol Management
Comments submitted to NCQA supported updates to HEDIS measures that strengthen LDL cholesterol management, expand access to lipid-lowering therapies, and promote earlier identification of patients at risk for cardiovascular disease.
Renal Denervation Coverage Advocacy
ABC urged CMS to establish Medicare coverage for renal denervation, highlighting the burden of uncontrolled hypertension and the need for innovative treatment options to improve cardiovascular outcomes.
