The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF, Task Force) today posted for public comment the final evidence report and draft recommendation statement on vitamin, mineral and multivitamin supplements for the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer. I encourage you and others in your organization to review these materials and submit comments on the draft recommendation statement. Comments can be submitted from November 12, 2013 through December 9, 2013 on the USPSTF website. We believe that soliciting outside input will help to ensure that the final recommendation is valid, reliable, and useful to health professionals, patients, and family members.
If you have not already done so, please let this email serve as a reminder to sign up for the USPSTF email list to receive notification of when final materials for vitamin, mineral and multivitamin supplements for the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer are posted on the Task Force Web site. Also, if you know of any other organizations, subject matter experts, or individuals who may be interested in being informed of Task Force recommendations, please encourage them to sign up.
Individuals that sign up for the USPSTF email list will be alerted to opportunities to provide comment on draft materials for all topics. Members of the Task Force carefully review all submitted comments and take them into consideration when finalizing the recommendation statement. Email announcements will also let individuals know when final research plans, evidence reports, and recommendation statements are released on the Task Force Web site.
