2026 Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition

The Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) is now accepting submissions for the U.S.based 2027 Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition — one of ABC’s premier opportunities for residents and fellows from the U.S. to showcase original cardiovascular research.

Named in honor of the late Dr. Jay Brown, this longstanding competition recognizes excellence, innovation, and scientific rigor in cardiovascular medicine while helping elevate the next generation of leaders in cardiology.

ABC invites trainees across the United States to submit original scientific abstracts addressing important issues in cardiovascular disease, prevention, treatment, outcomes, and health equity.

Competition Overview

The Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition is seeking cardiovascular research across clinical, basic, and population science.

Abstracts will be evaluated by an expert review panel based on:

  • Scientific merit
  • Innovation
  • Clinical relevance
  • Potential impact on cardiovascular health outcomes

Four (4) outstanding abstracts will be selected for presentation at the ABC annual Fellows–in-Training Educational Program & Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition, held in conjunction with the American College of Cardiology (ACC.27) Scientific Sessions in Houston, TX.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be trainees in cardiovascular medicine within the United States
  • Be currently enrolled in a residency or cardiology fellowship training program

Please note:

  • Previously published work is not eligible
  • Observational case reports are discouraged
  • Applicants may submit multiple abstracts; however, only the strongest submission will be considered
