Program Summary
Primary care providers face complex challenges everyday in their busy practices. With rapid changes in medicine, staying informed about new developments can be equally challenging. Our goal in this CME activity is to help you hone your skills in the diagnosis and management of patients with varied conditions you are likely encountering in your practice.
We have recruited a faculty of well-known thought leaders and experienced teachers who, as clinicians themselves, understand the challenges you face every day as a primary care provider. Our faculty will be at your disposal to provide evidence-based science, current treatment guidelines, discuss challenging cases, and provide answers for you that can ultimately lead to better health care for your patients. The presentations will include several interactive cases and discussion sessions to keep you actively learning.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
Utilize evidence-based strategies to diagnose patients presenting with headache; Identify associated conditions (e.g. depression), and red flags for potentially life-threatening causes of headache; Use evidence-based recommendations to prescribe treatment for patients presenting with acute or emergent headache pain; Develop collaborate management plans, emphasizing patient education on avoiding triggers that cause headache, and adherence to prescribed treatment strategies; Discuss newer pharmacologic targets for managing patients with Chronic Migraine.
Recognize the risk for, and impact of, hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes; Integrate strategies to reduce the risk of glycemic variability into the care of patients with diabetes; Recognize how to use SMBG or newer CGM devices to reduce the risk of dysglycemia/hypoglycemia; Differentiate between available insulin preparations and their effects on glycemic variability and hypoglycemic risk.
Discuss the pathophysiology of AAT deficiency (AATD) and its impact on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) risk; Interpret the clinical significance of laboratory test results for AATD; Discuss treatment options for AATD incorporating the latest guideline recommendations; Discuss strategies to enhance detection and treatment of AATD in clinical practice.
Discuss the latest 2018 ACC/AHA Multisociety Guideline on the Management of Blood Cholesterol to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease; Incorporate current data surrounding non-statin therapy into secondary prevention treatment strategies for patients with the highest cardiovascular risk; Overcome barriers to access for PCSK9 monoclonal antibody therapy.
